The oldest lighthouse in Michigan is the second oldest on the Great Lakes and actually older than the state itself. Erected in 1825, the lighthouse was a part of the Fort Gratiot garrison installed to guard the opening to the St. Clair River. It sits on Lake Huron. It isn’t the tallest at just over 86 feet, but this lighthouse is still functioning as a Coast Guard station and active lighthouse.
